In The Name of Beauty
It's amazing the things women go through in the name of beauty and vanity! No matter how silly you look and feel on the way to meet that particular objective. Not to mention the pain sometimes. Beauty...inner or outer beauty that matters? Very subjective!
There she sits, in the hair salon for 4 hours. Hoping that the RM 300 she is spending on her hair is going to make a difference. Praying that it will make her feel better. Looking partially like Einstein and in between a psychotic woman who just escaped from a mental hospital, she wishes very hard that this will make heads turn, built her self confident and she is really worth looking at. With cotton balls sticking out of her hair and wires all over the place like Frankenstine, this better be worth it!
4 hours passed and wallah, hmmm that’s not how I’m supposed to look! The curls are too oily and stiff! Why doesn’t it look the same as the model in the pictures? Why don’t they flow beautifully like I had imagined it would be! Argghh.. this is disaster! I can’t do anything with it, at least not for the next 48 hours or the perm will be a waste! (actually it is already wasted as I am sitting here)
She sits there looking and cursing herself for the decision she just made. To save RM200 and go have your hair done by an unknown hair stylist or spend that extra with someone who knows what you want and delivers the result that you want! (to look like those models in the magazine!)...RM300 Vs RM500...
A week has passed and she met Ivan, her regular hair stylist! ‘ What happened to you?’, he asked. ‘Who touched your hair?’
‘ok, ok, no need to get all dramatic about it! I know it’s my fault!.... Can you fix it?’ Ivan went on and on babbling about patience, art, investment…yada yada…and this is all related to her hair that didn’t go as planned a week ago!
‘You always come to me when you are in a hurry!’ he complaints! ‘And expects me to work a miracle’
‘Of course! You’re good at what you do Ivan! I’m sorry I went to someone else. Won’t do it again! I have dinner tonight, please make me look good!’
1 hour passed and he worked his magic, nagging along the way…and at the end all is good. She looks and feels like the model in the magazine. Walks out of the salon with a big smile on her face…100% satisfied!
