Where is the LOVE?
It’s Monday morning and I get the same feeling a million others get when it is time to get their butt off the bed and get ready for work. The alarm clock shows 7am, mmm…maybe 10 more minutes won’t hurt! This is when Pepper (my cat) decides to curl up on my tummy, looking adorable and trying to persuade me, NOT to go to work. So I put the alarm clock to snooze and doze off again. 10 minutes later, you should have seen the look on Pepper’s face when she was startled by the “Rrrrriiiinggggggg” sound!
“Ok… Sayang, mommy needs to get up!” I carefully lifted Pepper from my tummy, stroke her chin and headed for the shower. ½ an hour later I’m all ready to go. Put some food and water into her bowl, pick up my hand bag, gym bag, laptop bag (did I forget any other bags??!) and head to my car.
The route I take 5 days a week is heavy with traffic…what’s new?! So what does Richard and Shazmin has to say today on Mix FM? Blah blah blah…ok switch channel to Light and Easy…mmm…nice song…switch channel again to Hitz FM…ahh…the guy with the cute bon bon is singing his latest single, “I don’t care!”.
Screaming on top of my lungs to the lyrics of this song, especially the “I don’t care” part…suddenly this Black Savvy swerved in front of me!..Ok I get the picture, you need to pee and you’re in a hurry…either that or you can’t afford a Porsche and thinks that your Savvy is one! Whatever the reason was, being the ethical driver that I am, (wink…wink…I can imagine some of my friends begging to defer if they read this) I moved to the middle lane.
Without thanking me for my considerate action, the driver starts tailing a Wira in front of him. Unlike me, Mr Wira drove as if he was going on a stroll by the beach. He was in his own world, maybe on cloud nine, maybe thinking of the good xxx he had last night or maybe trying his best to drive very slowly so that by the time he gets to work (I’m assuming he is heading to work), it is 6pm and it is time to go home once again!
I had a bad feeling and decided to stay as far as possible from both of them. I suddenly remembered the safety tips I learned way back when I was 17, getting my licence! Hey that wasn’t that long ago ok! Anyway, the tip was to keep a safe distance so that if you need to step on the breaks, you’ll do so without kissing the butt in front of you.
Anyway, I was observing Mr Savvy trying to overtake Mr Wira but could not do it since there was another car on the left side of Mr Wira. The other car had 6th sense too and sped up a bit, this was when Mr Savvy decided to zig zag to the left and then right again. As he was doing this, he was very close to Mr Wira and all of the sudden Mr Wira woke up from his day dreaming and swerved his car. Mind you that we are on a high way and he tried to avoid the road divider on his right and made a turn to his left, lost control, went spinning twice before heading for the curb on the left lane!
What seemed like something done on purpose, Mr Savvy happily sped off as if saying, “Mission accomplished!”
My observation tells me that Mr Wira wasn’t physically hurt but traumatised, I’m sure! His car was badly damaged! There he was, stuck in the middle of a high way, while Mr Savvy gets to where he wanted to go in a hurry. I had a different exit but I prayed that no one else pissed off Mr Savvy! Was all that worth it? What if Mr Wira got badly injured or died? What would have happened to his wife, kids and family if he had any? All this because Mr Wira won’t give way to Mr Savvy! There was lots of space for Mr Savvy to move to the left lane. He could have gone all the way to the left then slowly over take and get back on the right if he wanted to but no! He decided to get even! He decided to scare Mr Wira a bit and in the process caused a lot of damage but not taking any responsibility out of it.
Even though Mr Wira wasn’t physically hurt, he could be financially hurt. He could have been in a lot of debts…insurance? Well, most people hate to go through the hassle of claiming them. Why did this happen? Could it be avoided? Was it an attitude problem? I am always right! I always have it my way! The “MY WAY or NO WAY at all” attitude is really dangerous! We must understand that this planet was created for us to share. Understanding each other; be it religion, tradition, believes or ones philosophy in life will teach the sense of respect for other human being which leads to another observation…
Most parents nowadays, give in to their child’s every request and even believe that their child is always the angel and it’s the other kids that gives bad influences. This doesn’t help to solve the “MY WAY or NO WAY at all” attitude. Ha…ha… some may say it is easy for me to say this because the closest for me to having a child of my own is having a cat! What do I know about parenting?
Wow, having said all that, so much for something seemed like an ordinary Monday! I have one last question, “What’s wrong with the world?” One incident lead to all these questions and started my brain thinking at 8 in the morning! I’m not even at work yet! This reminds me of this song…
Black Eye Peas – Where is the LOVE
What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate,
Badness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how a n**** works and operatesN**,
you gotta have love just to set it straight

But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate

And when you hate then you're bound to get irate,
Badness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how a n**** works and operatesN**,
you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love,
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Cause people got me, got me questionin
Where is the love
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our own direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids act like what they see in the cinema
Whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive to lovers bound
